Warm summer nights in Indy are the perfect opportunity to enjoy the outdoors! Indianapolis hosts plenty of outdoor movies throughout the city, so grab some friends and family and come meet the Indianapolis community. As a movie lover, I am excited to finally experience these series for the first time! Whether the movie be a tear-jerking drama or a nail-biting adventure, these movie events will not disappoint!

1. THE NATIONAL BANK OF INDIANAPOLIS SUMMER NIGHTS FILM SERIES – NEWFIELDS AMPHITHEATER

Kick off your summer night with a movie at Newfields! Bring a chair or blanket and some snacks to enjoy while you lay back and watch your favorite film. If you want to jazz it up a little, you can even buy drinks at the event. Newfields is also very popular for its 52-acre garden, so arrive early and take some time to frolic through them before it gets dark. For more info on their movies, dates, and times, check out their website!

2. MOVIES AT THE MAC – GARFIELD PARK MACALLISTER AMPHITHEATer

Movies at the Mac is another great addition to the many events the MacAllister Amphitheater will have this summer, and all of these movies are free. “The Mac” theater first opened in the 1920s and is located in Garfield Park, the most historic park in Indy. The scenic atmosphere provides a great chance to explore some wildlife and take a break from the rush of the city. You’re bound to see some family favorites playing at The MacAllister Amphitheater, so you won’t want to miss out on them! Grab some popcorn and make yourself comfortable out in the fresh air!

3. MOVIES AT THE MONUMENT – TAGGART MEMORIAL AMPHITHEATRE

Movies at the Monument will also host three outdoor movies for everyone this summer. This beautiful place sits on the grounds of the second-largest park in Indianapolis and uses the Taggart Memorial as the backdrop. The memorial was dedicated to Thomas Taggart who was the mayor of Indianapolis from 1895 to 1901 as well as the founder of Riverside Park where this amphitheater is located. These movies are also free to attend, so bring the whole gang and chill out to one (or more) of these movies.

4. MOVIES AT MIDTOWN – CARMEL’S MIDTOWN PLAZA

Movies at Midtown in Carmel will have many showings from now until October 31st! Midtown is a spectacular sight to see! It’s actually a central place for arts, shopping, and entertainment in Carmel which makes it a great place to catch a film. After the movie, you can take an evening walk on the Monon Trail, or grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant. Come out and explore this suburban city of Indy!

5. TIBB’S DRIVE-IN THEATER

Tibbs Drive-in Theater is a great place to visit if you’d rather watch a movie from the comfort of your own car. It is a family-owned theater that was built in 1967, and it is currently the only drive-in located in Indy. Tibbs is also pet-friendly and has a concessions stand so you can buy your favorite snacks! So, roll down your windows, and enjoy the nice evening breeze!

I hope these events inspire some ideas and help you make great new memories in Indy. Either dress up or dress down, and invite your friends to come out. Just don’t forget your bug spray! I can’t wait to see you there!
