DESCRIBE THE IMPACT FLANNER HOUSE HAS HAD ON THE INDY REGION.

Flanner House is a historic facility that has been providing support to the Indy community since 1898. Since their inception, they have helped people rebuild their lives and become self-sufficient after situations of crisis. Flanner House has been especially helpful for tackling issues that affect Indy’s Black community, such as food insecurity, affordable housing, equitable education, and crime prevention.

Flanner House offers services to people of all ages.

Children as young as six can receive early childhood education. Growing teens can participate in crime prevention and workforce development programs. Adults can recieve financial literacy or credit recovery services. The center truly provides programming for every stage of life.

Flanner House’s impact reaches far beyond their main building.

They have a community bookstore where children can get free school supplies, a new mental health center for people without insurance, an afforable grocery store for healthier meal options, and a local farm with two new commercial greenhouses. Flanner Farms currently produces over 40,000 pounds of fresh food for the Indianapolis community every year and is hoping to increase that number in the future.

WHAT IMPACT WOULD $14,000 HAVE ON YOUR ORGANIZATION AND THE COMMUNITIES YOU SERVE.

The need for donations at Flanner House is never ending as the cost of living increases. Donations will help Flanner House continue to provide healthy and afforable food options and improve their F.E.E.D. program (Farming Education Employment and Distribution). The F.E.E.D program promotes crime prevention and workforce development by teaching disadvantaged youth practical skills in farming and food distribution.

With this grant, Flanner House also hopes to continue providing school supplies to students year-round at their community bookstore, and continue growing their new mental health center which will provide free counseling to individuals who need it most.
