Hi, Indyfluencers! My name is Julia Sifferlen, and I’m here to introduce an ongoing segment called ‘Julia Joins In.’ In this series, I’m going to show you how easy it is for everyone to be an Indyfluencer—even if you aren’t spending your Indianapolis internship here in Indy! But before I get into that, let me tell you a little about myself…

I’m a rising senior at DePauw University majoring in Communications. I’ve had lots of different internships from working at NBC Sports Chicago to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to now being here at INNOVATIVE, located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. I’ve lived in the Indy region my whole life, and in my research for ‘Julia Joins In,’ I’ve realized that I’ve hardly even scratched the surface of all it has to offer. My favorite Indy spots are Mass Ave and White River State Park, and I think my dying meal would be the fried chicken from The Eagle. I’m so excited to show you my tried-and-true favorites and explore this area even more with you guys this summer!

For young professionals like me looking to network, Indianapolis has lots of opportunities to engage with. And as much as I love developing professionally, I’m also a sucker for a good new restaurant, fitness class, or happy hour. Fortunately, Indy has all my bases covered. ‘Julia Joins In’ will chronicle my experiences doing all that and more. I’m going to join in on different activities like workshops, roundtable discussions, and social gatherings in the Indy area. And lucky for you, I’ll be posting videos and blog posts recapping the events and giving my insight. Some of these events will inevitably be virtual, but some will be real outings and others might be a mix of both.

If you’re wondering why you should care, here’s a couple easy reasons why. First, I’ll be actually joining in on these events and giving you the breakdown—no work required from you! Second off, I know how important it is to hear from someone our age when it comes to stuff like this. We’re all tired of corporations and disconnected adults trying to relate to our generation by cashing in on the latest memes. Third, Indianapolis is truly such an incredible place to discover with so many unique experiences. I’m hoping to show you some of these, giving you a taste of what you should try when you’re in Indy, and if you’re already here for your internship this summer, don’t wait! You’re welcome to join me as I explore!

Stay tuned for more ‘Julia Joins In’ content starting in the next couple weeks. I’ll be posting about a new experience at least once a week. Make sure you check back in to this blog and our social accounts. We will be coming out with lots of helpful tips, takeovers, and opportunities from #Indyfluencers all over the area.

And remember, wherever you are, you can #BeAnIndyfluencer, too!
